Wireless Site Survey- Line of Site (LOS) Verification is the prerequisite wireless planning tool for implementing any wireless networking project.. Whether your company is implementing laser, licensed or unlicensed Microwave or any of the unlicensed solutions to support Ethernet bridging, multipoint or wireless bar code applications, a wireless site survey is essential to planning for a cost effective, time sensitive network project. Sight Survey planning is essential to determining what frequencies are already in use and in some cases determining which frequency to use, especially is a pure LOS is not available. The key deliverable in any wireless sight survey is line of sight verification. The  flash shown was taken from 1.5 miles, and  validates line of site from established heights and is a key to a successful, on-time, wireless, laser or microwave project. The site survey flash depicted was focused around the Cisco 1400 5GHz and Motorola Canopy 5.2GHz and 5.7GHz multi-point and point to point bridge and the Motorola Canopy Wireless products, but can also be used for Proxim's 20, 40 or 60MB multi-point Tsunami, 5Ghz wireless products.

Most typical installations  are based on the "guess" method, leaving coverage holes, often ignoring interference when AP's are placed too close to each other or near a microwave interference radius zones, (generated by microwave ovens and can interfere with 2.4GHz radios.) Wireless Interference Detection and Analysis is an emergency service offered to detect new interfering wireless devices including 900Mhz, 2.4GHz, 5.2GHZ and 5.7-8GHz, detection of illegal internal rogue AP's, or plan for wireless IP video feasibility.

In the past, we were mainly concerned with frequency hoppers and noisy RF implementations with amplifiers. Today's challenges include noisy 5Ghz products which span the entire spectrum or implementations where no prior spectrum analysis took place, often interrupting existing wireless links. Once detected, we can usually recommend viable channels and identify the source of interference.

This is now also true of 5.7GHz wireless video devices which have been deployed over the past 2 years. When wireless interference occurs in a video implementation, the video stream usually becomes inoperable; symptoms include video lock up and pixilization.
